FAQs

Q?

Where did you come up with that name?

A.

It was accidental.  When I left Babe Winkelman Productions, I didn’t know what I was going to do next, so I did some freelance in the interim. My first clients always said, “Hey, we’re one guy short for this next project, can you work with us?”

I responded, “I’m your One Guy Short” and it stuck.  I wish it was gender neutral through.

Q?

How big of a company is One Guy Short?

A.

We’re a single proprietor LLC. Mark Ambroz is the owner, producer, director, writer, camera operator and editor. But we’re a big company too.

I’ve worked with so many great videographers over the years that my contact list is huge. And I know the best ones.

So if you have a bigger production, you should use One Guy Short, because all the billing is through us and you get the best specialists in the industry.

Q?

How much will it cost

A.

A better question is “how long will it take?” because production is billed on complexity and time. We estimate how long a video will take to produce, set up, film, take down and edit.

If we must hit four locations, that costs more than one. That’s why first, we listen to what our client wants, then we can give an accurate estimate.

The length of the video is less important to cost than the length of time it takes to make. Generally, our work is hourly at $90/hr. – all inclusive.

Q?

If we’re not located in Brainerd, and need to hire a videographer there, do we need to travel to Brainerd for the production?

A.

No. We become your temporary visual marketing expert, working on your behalf. We’ve done so many out-of-town corporate clients that it’s second-nature.

Q?

What are Mark Ambroz’s qualifications?

A.

I’ve been around this field my whole adult life. I’m fortunate to have worked in many forms of video production. That’s why I’m comfortable in so many areas, because I’ve likely done what the client wants before and can use those experiences to fulfill this one.

It’s also why I advertise being a consultant and trainer, because my expertise allows me to educate companies on all aspects of production. Many companies want to produce their own media. I can help set you up for that.

Q?

Why do you promote being an educator on your company site?

A.

Our program at Central Lakes College is robust and eventful. Students work on real videos for real clients. Many people want to learn some aspect of filmmaking, either for professional development or hobby.

You don’t have to join the Videography program to take any of our Videography classes. Just sign up and show up. Also, we are developing a strong online classroom presence – meaning the class you want might be offered right in your own home.

Q?

What if I don’t know where to start with our company video?

A.

Then you certainly came to the right place!
